Downing '49, SAR President General
The 115th Congress on the Sons of the American Revolution met during the period of July 1 through July 6, 2005 in Louisville, KY. During the Congress, Roland Downing ('49) was elected President General of the SAR for the 2005-2006 year.

In the color photo, Roland and his wife, Norma Wright Downing ('51), pose in the SAR National Headquarters building in Louisville before a copy of the famous John Trumbull painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

In the second photo, Downing receives the SAR National Chapter's most valuable possession: George Washington's seal ring. This ritual was conducted by the retiring President General, Henry N. McCarl.
