Because you developed the Honors Program at Freed-Hardeman University, the first among the Christian colleges and universities;

Because you have encouraged a variety of intercollegiate academic activities;

Because you led the Honors Program to national recognition;

Because you have mentored students in research, challenging young minds, and engaging them in research and learning;

Because you have taught and encouraged an appreciation of culture and etiquette;

Because you are gracious to make others feel comfortable in a variety of settings;

Because you have been praised by students expressing appreciation for your Christian influence in their lives;

Because you served admirably as the chairman of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies;

Because you served as the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chairman of the Freed-Hardeman University Academic Affairs Committee;

Because you have long been respected as a beloved minister of the Gospel of Christ; and

Because you have been a faithful and devoted husband, father, and grandfather
